Mental Health, Emotional Wellbeing and YASHHO'S Limitations
4 questions
What is mental health, and why is it important for students?
Mental health concerns emotional, psychological and social wellbeing, including how people function and respond to life's demands.
Students may experience stress related to examinations, relationships, family expectations or other circumstances.
Mental-health difficulties should be taken seriously and addressed with appropriate support rather than dismissed as weaknesses in attitude.
YASHHO’s ASLI64™ process gives families an additional, personalized view of strengths and developmental priorities beyond marks alone.
Can YASHHO help students cope with everyday academic stress?
YASHHO's developmental approach may help students identify practical priorities in Planning, Time management, Self Regulation and Problem-solving.
These abilities can be relevant to organizing work and responding to challenges.
Students experiencing persistent or overwhelming distress should receive appropriate mental-health support.
Why is Resilience important, and what are its limitations?
Resilience concerns adapting to difficulties and setbacks. It may support learning from failure and continuing towards meaningful goals.
However, telling distressed students to become more resilient is not an adequate response to bullying, abuse, mental illness or unsafe circumstances.
YASHHO’s Attitude pillar helps structure discussions about confidence, resilience and other developmental abilities without reducing a person to a score.
Can YASHHO help students who have low confidence?
YASHHO measures Confidence as one of its 15 Attitude abilities.
Its findings may help identify developmental priorities and guide suitable practice.
Confidence should be developed through realistic challenges, supportive feedback and genuine competence—not through pressure to appear confident at all times.
